A wise man once said, "never hire a translator with 'poor Terminology skills.'"

You might want to rethink your spiel if you want to break into the English-speaking market. Your English is barely legible.

On the other hand, the poster's English is probably better than your Hindu (or whatever his native tongue is; I assumed this language due to the first link).

However, it is my understanding that the industry standard is for translators to generally only translate into their native tongue. I don't have firsthand experience with this, as I haven't done anything in the private sector. (Other parts of the government aren't as concerned about this, either, as long as you test well in the language they desire.)

I can say that natives will have a greater understanding of the source language, but they may have great difficulties putting it into good, idiomatic English (as you noted here). To a point, I'd rather have an American with training in Arabic than a native Arab... as long as that American actually understands what is being said. (An even better method, although more resource and time intensive, is to pair a native Arab with a native English speaker who knows Arabic. YMMV.)

I've recently been doing a little on-demand work from Indonesian to English so I can vouch for that. Translating into Indonesian is very difficult. But I wouldn't hire a firm that didn't have a competent native speakers of both languages on staff.

Significant nuances can be lost in an inaccurate translation when you don't have the insight of both parties.

I mean let's face it - his spiel looks machine-translated anyway. Look at the unnecessary capitalisation, the adverbial phrases, the dropped tenses, the use of words that indicate extremely poor quality dictionaries etc.

Hmmm, I wonder if I could make a living translating Redneck into English?

Come to think of it, I doubt there's much demand.
